July 8: Fight Back: Wells Fargo Drops its Climate Targets (Wells Fargo Workers’ Union & Stop the Money Pipeline)

Wells Fargo recently made a disastrously irresponsible move and dropped its climate targets, so we’re teaming up with the union not only because it’s the right thing to do, but because it’s strategic.

Come to the training on July 8th to learn how you can support Wells Fargo workers in your community.

By teaming up with the union, we are going to show Wells Fargo there are real consequences for dropping its targets.

Wells Fargo workers are not isolated from their environment. If Wells Fargo continues to fund the expansion of the fossil fuel industry, we are all going to see increased levels of pollution, disasters, and economic instability.

But it’s not too late to stop this from happening, if Wells Fargo actually steps up to address its role in the climate crisis and stops funding the fossil fuel industry – this could prevent catastrophic warming and community pollution.

That’s why our goal is to spread union literature at hundreds of Wells Fargo branches around the country:
Join us in supporting Wells Fargo workers in fighting for our community members and our environment.

If we team up with the union, we have more power to fight for both workers rights and climate justice. Wells Fargo workers deserve dignity and respect in their workplace and that’s not happening at Wells Fargo: workers are receiving low wages, experiencing understaffing, all while Wells Fargo is increasing its pressure on employees to make more sales (which was what resulted in that Wells Fargo fake account scandal in 2016 that you may have heard about).

Workers have already organized unions at 27 Wells Fargo branches. This is the first time there has been a union campaign like this at a U.S. bank this large.

Wells Fargo is afraid of the union because they want to maximize their short term profits for shareholders.

The truth is: workers are actually more productive when they are treated better and customers get better service and results, resulting in better business for Wells Fargo in the long run.

By bringing our movements together, we have more resources to fight for BOTH the dignity and respect of people in their workplace and a livable future.

Join our training on July 8th to learn how climate activists can support the Wells Fargo union campaign.

I hope to see you there!

In solidarity,
– Sarah, Stop the Money Pipeline
