Because YOU make the difference!
We need the City’s budget to be about us! Last Thursday, we kicked off budget season by bringing together over 200 community members
We are domestic workers, retail workers, mental health workers, and teachers. We are union members, and co-op workers. We are renters and homeowners. We come from families that have been rooted in Philly for centuries and we are new immigrants. We have the solutions that our families and communities need. It’s time for City Council and Mayor Parker to listen to the people.
The political moment we’re in can feel overwhelming, with federal budget cuts and layoffs, increasing ICE activity and deportations, and Mayor Parker’s plan to let big corporations off the hook for paying what they owe in taxes. This is an opportunity for our communities to channel our grief, fear, and outrage into powerful collective action And it’s an opportunity for City Council to prioritize community voices in the budget making process and pass a budget that invests in the essential services and programs that make our communities more safe, healthy, and whole!
Here’s what we’re prioritizing this budget season:
✸ Investment in Public Health, Not Overpolicing
✸ Dignity for Immigrant Communities
✸ Safe and Equitable Work
✸ Safe, Healthy Homes
✸ Fully Funded Public Spaces
✸ Equitable Tax Policy

Our communities need and deserve much much more! The fight this year will set us up to take back even more of what we’re owed in the years to come – it’s the people vs the billionaires
Join us in the fight to win the budget our city deserves! There are many ways to get involved, have your voice heard in the budget process, and grow your leadership.
Here are some specific ways you can show up:
Next Wednesday, March 26th, City Council is holding a hearing all about the proposed tax cuts. We need folks to SHOW UP & testify at the hearing. If you don’t want more government handouts for big corporations or a tax hike for small businesses, join us at City Hall!

The workshops will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about the City budget process. You’ll also have the chance to contribute to collective artwork about your neighborhood’s funding priorities which will be shown to City Council. Free food will be provided!
