The deliberate starvation of the people of Gaza continues. Aid groups ran out of food weeks ago, and 2.3 million people teeter on the brink of starvation—conditions imposed and enforced deliberately by the Israeli regime. The Israeli government has “concentrated” the people of Gaza into smaller and smaller areas, with panic and confusion marking the distribution of aid to the desperate people of Palestine.
In addition to the slow death of starvation, Israel continues its wholesale slaughter. These past few weeks, hundreds more Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes and military incursions. Israeli troops also fired “warning shots” at a group of diplomats from more than 20 countries, including France, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Canada. France has summoned the Israeli ambassador. The UK has halted free trade talks with Israel.
Even within Israel, high-ranking former government officials have spoken out in opposition to the years-long killings. An ex-Israeli general has criticized Israel’s effort as “killing babies as a pastime.” Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has come out against Israel’s war on Gaza, saying, “If this is not a war crime, what is?”
Donald Trump is making noise that the iron-clad financial and rhetorical support of the United States for Israel’s genocidal slaughter is under consideration.
The killings must come to an end. We must make sure that governments of the world still supporting Israel—especially the United States—align their policies with the will of the people and international law. Your continued courage, voice, and commitment are critical to making this happen.
