Mar. 14: Fridays at Fetterman’s Walk to ICE Field Office on 8th Street for Mahmoud Khalil

From Fridays @ Fetterman’s Weekly Peace Vigil:

When we learned that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had abducted and illegally detained Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University graduate and anti-genocide activist, we knew we had to demonstrate dissent on the street.*

Mahmoud’s detention is a chilling violation of civil liberties that imperils not only our movement for peace and freedom in Israel/Palestine but also the First Amendment rights of every American.

So, we decided to conduct a Peace Train Action this coming Friday (3.14.25) from outside Senator Fetterman’s office at 200 Chestnut Street to the Philadelphia field office of ICE, located at 114 N 8th Street.

Please join us in shining the light—and putting the heat—on ICE this coming Friday as we demand, FREE Mahmoud Khalil!

*Note: F@F had intended to announce the Philadelphia People’s Tribunal at this Friday’s vigil, but we will focus on that event at a future Friday vigil.

Join the Philly Peace Train to ICE!   Demand freedom for Mahmoud Khalil

  • 11:15 am: Gather outside Senator Fetterman’s office at 200 Chestnut Street
  • 11:30 am: Conduct a short march for Mahmoud up 2nd Street to the Market-Frankford Line Station at 2nd and Market Streets. Get on the peace train.
  • 11:45 am (estimated): Depart the subway at the 8th Street station and conduct another march for Mahmoud along 8th Street to the ICE Field Office.
  • 12:00 pm (estimated) Conduct a 20-minute Free Mahmoud vigil outside of the ICE Field Office and then conclude our Philly Peace Train Action.
If you don’t feel comfortable walking the designated routes, please join us by meeting the group at the Philadelphia ICE office at 114 N 8th Street around 12:00 pm.
  • You will need to budget more time than usual to participate in the Philly Peace Train Action
  • You will need to spend $2.50 to ride the Market-Frankford El one way. SEPTA uses a tap-and-go fare system that accepts debit/credit cards, cellphone pay apps, SEPTA key cards, SEPTA senior cards — or you can pay cash to a cashier.
  • We will conclude the Action at the ICE field office at 114 N. 8th Street. Folks can take any form of transportation from there back to their cars or homes.
