The Pennsylvania legislature is considering legislation to legalize and regulate cannabis for adults.
Every year, police arrest over 10,000 Pennsylvanians for marijuana violations. Most of these arrests are for low-level possession only. This is a terribly destructive policy that disrupts people’s lives and has lasting consequences. It’s time to end this failed policy.
PA is one of the only states in the region that continues to charge people with criminal offenses for low-level possession. These laws are often selectively enforced.
In addition, according to a recent economic analysis, legalizing marijuana sales in Pennsylvania could create over 45,000 new jobs and generate as much as $720 million in tax revenue.
Please use this pre-written letter to urge your lawmakers to legalize marijuana in Pennsylvania.
