From CeaseFire PA: The Trump administration made it easier for gun dealers to break the law and put our communities at risk. The administration has rolled back the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) “zero-tolerance” policy, giving rogue gun sellers permission to egregiously violate our public safety laws without consequence. The result is more illegal guns flooding into our communities with fatal consequences. With the Trump Administration abandoning its duty to keep us safe, it’s more important than ever that the PA State Police step up. They already have the authority to ensure licensed gun dealers follow the law and to take action when they don’t. Add your name to tell the PA State Police to hold rogue gun dealers accountable. ADD YOUR NAME Under the zero-tolerance policy, a gun store could lose its license when it was found to have willfully committed one of five serious violations, including selling a gun without a background check. In 2024, 195 sellers’ licenses were revoked, most for serious infractions such as participating in gun trafficking schemes and repeatedly selling to prohibited purchasers. Here in Pennsylvania, our background check system halts tens of thousands of gun sales a year to individuals with violent criminal records, a clear history of abuse, or other serious dangers. Each one of those denials is a potential life saved and a community kept together. But the system only works when gun dealers use it. With ATF announcing you can keep selling guns after deadly public safety violations, we need our state police to crack down on gun businesses that willfully endanger public safety. Please sign the petition to tell the state police to hold rogue gun dealers accountable. ADD YOUR NAME Gun shops should never be above the law. In community, Adam, Ashleigh, and the team at CeaseFirePA |
